Back of House

BOH stands for “Back of House.” In the food service industry, it refers to the area in a restaurant or establishment where food preparation, cooking, and other behind-the-scenes operations take place. The BOH encompasses various functional areas, including the kitchen, dishwashing area, storage spaces, and employee break rooms. It is distinct from the front-of-house (FOH) area, which includes the dining area, bar, and spaces where customers are served and interact with staff.
